Our bodies make less and less of many key enzymes our bodies need as we age. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is one of them. CoQ10 is contained in every cell in our bodies. By the time you have passed your 60’s, you have 72% less CoQ10 in your heart muscle wall, 69% less in your pancreas, 75% less in your skin, 35% less in your kidneys, 17% less in your liver, 57% less in your heart, and 47% less in your adrenal gland.

CoQ10 can be supplemented. Look for the ingredient, Ubiquinol, rather than ubiquinone when buying this supplement. CoQ10 and Shilajit improve mitochondrial function and increase cellular energy. The two act synergistically.

CoQ10 and Shilajit combined improve memory function. Memory loss is another facet of aging. The central nervous system in our brains is continually under attack from free radicals. Normal production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) can handle this recurring onslaught. However, when less CoQ10 is produced, less ATP is also produced in our cells. Our brains begin to suffer. Memory loss is inevitable.

CoQ10 and Shilajit enhance our cell’s ability to increase ATP. This increase in ATP is usually enough to counter the effects of memory loss and many neurodegenerative diseases. There are some studies that look very promising with Shilajit to reverse brain damage.

Acetylcholine is required for brain health. People with Alzheimer’s disease have lower amounts of acetylcholine than healthy people. Shilajit improves the production of acetylcholine in the brain. Alzheimer’s disease also shows abnormal accumulation of tau and beta amyloid proteins. Shilajit has been shown to inhibit the buildup of the tau protein and helps to untangle the plaque accumulations. Similar results are seen in Parkinson’s patients.

Our heart is another organ that benefits from Shilajit. Animal studies indicate that blood pressure and other cardiac stresses can be calmed or mitigated using Shilajit. Additionally, other animal testing showed very promising results in Shilajit being able to compensate or prevent heart muscle damage from heart attacks. Blood pressure, heart rates and respiratory rates were also normalized compared to those animals not treated with Shilajit.

Shilajit works with CoQ10 to provide extra electrons to counter free radicals. It extends the life of CoQ10 as an active antioxidant. Shilajit appears to reduce the effects of wear and tear on many organs in our bodies. Consult your physician before changing any current medicines you might be taking.
