My recent hike of the Camino de Santiago was my “Let It Go” tour. I started with this thought in mind before I arrived. I knew there would be a lot of unknowns facing us for the next four or five weeks. It was not worth hanging on to those things out of my control.

Yet, many of us hang on to things forever. We never forgive wrongs and injustices that have happened to us in our lives. Why? I think one reason is because that’s what our parents taught us. I’m sure you’ve heard the sentence, “I’ll never forgive that …. for what he/she did to me.”

Yes, life happens. People are people and they do insensitive and stupid things. We accept the stress of that moment and keep feeding it for the rest of our lives. Cortisol is continuously flowing in our bodies as we relive old emotional injuries. It is not healthy.

I went to a monthly military breakfast this morning – first time since July. Everyone knows that I am an advocate for health and wellness – treat the cause, not the symptoms. One guy asked me what was new in my field since he hadn’t seen me in a couple of months. I told him that I had been out of the country for a couple of months and had just returned to the real world.

I have written a few blogs about my experiences on the Camino Frances because I wanted to share it – many people have asked me about it. Facebook, other social media, and blogging are ways to share that information. However, my passion is health and wellness and I have not done anything substantial (writing wise) since returning. Today was a wake-up call for me.

If something is out of your control, let is go, let it be. Why allow someone or something else to affect your health and you life?
