Walk into a COVID-19 test center, spit into a tube, and get results in three hours or less. That is a reality today. A saliva test for COVID-19 is gradually being used across the United States.

It is low cost – $1.00 to $4.00 per test – sometimes free. The saliva test is considered much safer than the nasal swab test because it minimizes coughing and sneezing. The saliva test is less invasive and more convenient for people.

Eventually, this test might replace other testing protocols.
