Stats about coronavirus deaths.

Short blog, under 200 words. I have always loved statistics. I took it as an elective way back when. I got nine hours waived for another degree I got. I look at the stats for coronavirus and read excerpts of different analyses. It is interesting.

High blood pressure, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease are the most prevalent diseases associated with coronavirus deaths. If you have one, then your situation is bad if you contract the disease. If you have two, then you just entered the worse world. Three and the numbers are not in your favor.

75% of the fatalities had high blood pressure. One third had diabetes and another one third had cardiovascular disease. Having any one of the above maladies gives you three out of four chances to survive coronavirus if you are over 60 years of age. Having two doesn’t change the statistics much. However, having all three gives you a one out of two chance of survival.

Survival doesn’t always guarantee you return to normal. Many cases have scarring inside the lungs and reduce your ability to breathe after recovery.
