Stress is the genesis of 80% of more of all doctors’ visits. Stress can be the cause of heart attacks, high blood pressure, immune system decline, colds, flu, peptic ulcers, ulcerative colitis, stroke, insomnia, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, herpes, depression, chronic heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease, irritable bowel syndrome, asthma, and even obesity. If you have one of these conditions, it might be that the cause of that problem is stress.

Stress doesn’t tap you on the shoulder and tell you that it is present. Many of us go about out daily lives totally unaware that stress is causing problems in our bodies. Stress is cumulative. If you don’t do something specifically to get rid of it, it will continue to reside in you. It will continue to get worse until you take action to remove that stress from your body. I mentioned yesterday that exercise is a great way to remove stress. And, we need to exercise on a daily basis. Why not incorporate exercise into your stress reduction program?

However, there are some other things that can help alleviate stress. They are vitamin C, avoiding caffeine, meditation, breathing exercises, melatonin, quality sleep, laughter, black tea, massage, hypnosis, yoga, Rhodiola Rosea, glutamine, Ashwagandha and acupuncture. I prefer to use Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) as my primary non-exercise method of stress relief.

EFT is simple and it is free. I recommend that people go to YouTube and put in the keywords, EFT and whatever they are seeking to address in their lives. In this case, the keywords would be EFT and stress relief. Watch the videos and follow along. I suggest that you watch at least three videos to get the gist of the process and let the expert on the video lead you through the mechanics of EFT. Failure to relieve stress on a daily basis can lead to accelerated aging and premature death.
