E-cigarettes are more deadly than you might realize.

Over 8 million Americans use, smoke, or vape e-cigarettes daily. Almost two and a half million Americans are suffering from health problems as a result.

E-Cigarettes

https://truthinitiative.org/research-resources/emerging-tobacco-products/e-cigarettes-facts-stats-and-regulations  An e-cigarette (an electronic nicotine delivery system – ENDS) heats a liquid that produces an aerosol. That aerosol is inhaled. Some of the liquids have been approved by the FDA for oral consumption, but not for inhalation by an e-cigarette. The term, vaping, is used to describe this process, but the solution in the e-cigarette is not a vapor.

Serious lung illnesses and deaths are being reported by the CDC. Part of the problem is that there are many chemicals involved in the heating process. The original e-cigarettes used free-base nicotine. Today’s e-cigarettes use nicotine salts.

Europe limits e-cigarettes to 2% nicotine while the United States has no restrictions,
and some e-cigarettes have more nicotine than the cigarettes they replaced. Most of the sales in the United States average 4% nicotine.

Lung Damage Symptoms

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention created the name – EVALI.

One-third of all e-cigarette users have one symptom and over half have more than one of these symptoms. Users who mix their own e-liquids were most likely to have multiple symptoms. Recent reports tell us that the United States Food and Drug Administration is preparing plans to increase the regulation of e-cigarettes.

Addiction

https://e-cigarettes.surgeongeneral.gov/knowtherisks.html E-cigarettes are addictive, just like regular cigarettes. Over three and a half million children and teenagers use e-cigarettes. Our brains are not fully developed until we are in our mid-20s. Nicotine addiction increases the risks of mood disorders and lowers impulse control. Some studies are showing that the way we learn is also affected by nicotine.

Conclusion

We know that cigarette smoking has serious health issues associated with it. When e-cigarettes arrived on the scene people thought they were harmless. The aerosol from e-cigarettes contains chemicals that are linked to serious lung disease. Another risk that most of us do not even consider is the defective e-cigarette batteries that have caused fires and explosions.

Our health is the result of our choices and actions. When we are young and bulletproof, we do a lot of things that have the potential to get us into trouble – both health and life in general. Our brains are usually fully developed at around 24 years of age. It is not a light switch that comes on at that age and we see things differently, it is the biological function of the brain as it matures.

We can still make the same errors we did as teenagers in our 40s and older. The addictions that we develop and live with over the years leads to other serious health issues a decade or two down the road.
